Ralph’s grandfather and great uncle started Thornbers chicken rearing in about 1907 when they were on strike as weavers. To make a living during this time of privation, they began their business out the back door. They made more at it than weaving, so began the story of one of the valley’s great family enterprises. Here are some images from the family collection.
Wild Rose Heritage and Arts is a community group which takes it's name from the area in which we are located - the valley ("den") of the wild rose ("Heb") - Hebden Bridge which is in Calderdale, West Yorkshire.
